Management Team

Meet the RPA management team

Brad Nicholson (Managing Director)

Born into an Australian Defence Force family, Brad grew up immersed in a military environment full of dangerous goods. Intent on going into business, Brad graduated high school in 1996 and started studying Small Business Management. On graduating, Brad combined his experience and studies by taking over his father as Owner and Managing Director of DG Air in 1998.

After taking control of the business, Brad focused on building relationships with other serviceable industries beyond the military – including the medical and radiation sectors – and significantly broadened the company’s customer base. After further study at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO), Brad continued to immerse himself in the legislation and regulations of dangerous goods within each State and Territory of Australia. He is now the country’s leading authority in this field.

Brad is a prominent member of various dangerous goods councils around Australia which consult with the Government on changes to any new or current legislation.

Anthony O’Brien (Country Manager)

Anthony began his professional career teaching Applied Physics at Curtin University, before moving to Chile to work as an instrumentation scientist at the Gemini Observatory. After moving back to Australia, he then started a company providing research and development in instrumentation, targeted at both the medical and resources industries.

Out of this grew a business to address an identified gap in the provision of professional services to the mining and petroleum industries, specifically with respect to radiation safety and management. Radiation Professionals Australia is the culmination of over a decade of Radiation Management.

Anthony, as the Technical Lead in RPA, has gone on to develop management and training systems for discrete sources and more topically, for the monitoring, management and ultimate disposal of NORM. Working with industry and governments alike, RPA implement and deliver NORM management approaches in the exploration, mining and petroleum arena.
